Chris Casteel

Co-Owner/Manager

Chris is the Co-Owner/Manager of Anew Life Prosthetics and Orthotics. Chris is also an amputee.

He is a 2007 graduate of Eastern Michigan University’s Orthotics and Prosthetics master’s degree program and a Certified Orthotist and Certified Prosthetist. He is also a former plant manager and has a career in manufacturing. In 2005, Chris established the University of Michigan Heath System (UMHS) Amputee Support Group while employed as an Orthotic and Prosthetic Technician. The UMHS Amputee Support Group is the first in the nation to be led by an on-staff Limb Loss Coordinator.

In late 2009, Chris started the Downriver Limb Loss Support Group in Gibraltar, Michigan. That fledgling group has started gathering regular members. Chris is a member of the Amputee Coalition of America. He is a certified peer visitor and a member of the Volunteer Outreach Team. He was a member Volunteer Task Force and developer of the OPAF First Paddle Adaptive Kayaking Clinic.

For at least ten years, Chris and his wife have been VIP Escorts for the Detroit Thanksgiving Day Parade. In his local community, Chris and his wife are former Big Brother mentors to a challenged child for five years. As an athlete, Chris has competed in rock climbing and kayaking at the 2008 and 2009 Extremity Games, capturing the bronze medal in kayaking in 2009. Chris is a recipient of the 2008 University of Michigan O&P Center Residency Recognition Award, and he was honored with the 2007 Council for Disability Concerns Certificate of Appreciation. Chris traveled to Haiti to assist their Orthotic and Prosthetic Department and also counsel amputees. He demonstrates on a daily basis to both children and adults that there is “life after limb loss.”


Matt Warner

Certified Prosthetist & Orthotist

Matt has a Master’s Degree in Orthotics and Prosthetics from Eastern Michigan University with a Bachelor’s of Science in Sports Medicine. He is also a Certified Prosthetist and Certified Orthotist with over 10 years of experience. Matt is also spearheading our 3D technology. Matt is an avid hockey enthusiast.


Don Stiles (retired)

Certified Orthotist

Don has been with Anew Life since its inception. He has been a Certified Orthotist since 2005 his expertise as a technician spans over 25 years. He is also a master in leather and metal fabrication. Don was also a Lower Extremity Orthotic Instructor at Baker College.


Loren Lacy

Technician, Certified Fitter, Artist

Loren is a graduate of Wayne State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology, Exercise and Sports Medicine, with aspirations of furthering his education and becoming a Prosthetist/Orthotist. He is also a new certified fitter and our resident artist, creating art on our cosmetic covers and other devices.


Kim Casteel

Consultant/Co-Owner

Kim is a Consultant/Co-Owner with a Bachelor’s in Business Administration from Northwood University along with a Paralegal degree and handles our contracts, office management, and other legal, management and office duties. Kim loves Detroit and is actively involved in the community with her husband, loves yoga and is also an avid bicyclist, kayaker, boater, and Detroit ambassador.


Michael Szewczyk

Medical Administrative Assistant

Michael is a recent transplant to the Detroit area. After 12 years of working in the medical field in Ohio, he transplanted with his spouse to their hometown. Michael enjoys writing music and DJing and can be seen playing live at many events around town. 


Detroit KC

Mascot / Therapy Dog / Guard Dog

KC is a white, miniature schnauzer who loves Anew Life’s patients, staff, and anyone who will give her their undivided attention. She also loves it when her parents carry her in their doggie backpack and take her for bike rides. One of her favorite islands is Belle Isle where she chases sticks and runs the many trails. She is more than happy to meet new and current patients, or will stay upstairs in her bed if you are afraid of dogs. Either way, she is happy to be able to come to work at Anew Life!
